Helen Hébert

Helen is a licensed architect in Wisconsin, holding a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois. Her career spans more than three decades and reflects a unique blend of architectural design, forensic investigation, and property condition assessment, giving her an exceptional breadth of technical and analytical expertise.

She began her professional career at a prominent Chicago engineering firm specializing in erection procedures for large and complex structures. It was here that she was first introduced to forensic work, participating in the detailed analysis of construction defects and accident experience that would later become a cornerstone of her career.

Helen’s professional trajectory includes significant contributions to healthcare facility design at a leading architectural firm, where she played a key role in complex hospital projects. She then transitioned to forensic engineering, joining a well-regarded firm before becoming a majority shareholder in a nationwide provider of property condition assessments. In this role, she oversaw and contributed to assessments for diverse building types, ensuring comprehensive evaluations of structural and building envelope performance.

In 1999, Helen relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to open a branch office for her company, successfully expanding its market reach. After selling her ownership interest, she returned to hands-on forensic architecture, where her true passion lies.

Helen’s technical specialization is in building envelope analysis and consultation, with an emphasis on waterproofing and roofing systems. She is recognized for her ability to accurately diagnose the root causes of building failures—whether due to design flaws, material deficiencies, or construction errors—and to develop effective, lasting solutions that address those issues at their source. Her methodical approach, combined with her clear communication style, has made her a trusted consultant to architects, contractors, property owners, attorneys, and insurance professionals.

Over her career, Helen has provided expert witness services, authored detailed forensic reports, and contributed to the resolution of complex construction disputes. She is respected for her meticulous documentation, deep technical knowledge, and commitment to practical, cost-effective solutions that preserve both building performance and client resources.
